^Lot 485 British Brown Bess India Pattern Socket Bayonet

British Brown Bess India Pattern Socket Bayonet, 17'' triangular blade and 4''socket with raised rim on rear, and three step mortise. Blade has square India pattern shoulders and is maker stamped ''MAKIN'' on the top flat. There are four notches cut into the rear of the socket, as normally done by the manufacturer. There is a regimental number ''13'' stamped into the top of the socket. Condition is good, showing overall patina and cleaned fine pitting to the top and back edges of the blade and socket. There are dents to both sides of the blade and the first step of the mortise. The blade point is sharp and the socket is round. Est.: $150-$250.
